Description
Hulford Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located on Netherexe Green Lane. It is constructed of cob, rendered, and sits on a stone plinth, topped with a thatched roof that is likely made of wheat reed. The roof features a right-hand half-hip and a left-hand gabled end, with an external end stack on the left side that includes a bulge for a thatched bake oven. The cottage has two storeys and a front facade with two windows and a central doorway. The ground floor has three-light timber casements with three panes per casement on either side, while the upper floor features two-light timber casements with two panes per casement. There is a 20th-century thatched extension at the rear. Inside, there is a fireplace with Thorverton stone jambs and a wooden lintel that is chamfered with scroll-stops, as well as a chamfered beam. The principal beams are partly exposed in the first-floor rooms.
