Description
The Old Rectory is a substantial house that was formerly used as the Rectory, built in the 18th century. It features a cob construction with a stone plinth, rendered exterior, and is topped with a gabled-end thatched roof. The house has end stacks, with the left-hand stack being external. It is two storeys tall and has a symmetrical front with a seven-window range. The upper windows are all wood casements set in wood cross and mullion pattern frames, while the lower windows have unhorned sashes with only two panes per sash. The central doorway is located under a rustic timber porch that has a gabled, thatched roof. At the rear, there is a 19th-century brick extension with a slate roof, which includes four windows that reuse unhorned sashes with six panes per sash—three on the ground floor and one above. Additionally, there is a rear stair turret that has its own thatched roof and features a two-light window with two leaded panes in each light.
