Description
The wall along the street to the north of No 5 St Margaret's Place is an 18th-century structure. It is built of ashlar with rusticated quoins and a plinth, and features a modern pantile roof. The wall is two storeys high and has an eaves cornice. There are three dormers with gablets; the central one has a triangular pediment, while the side ones have segmental pediments. The wall includes five sash windows with glazing bars. The first-floor windows have architrave surrounds and pulvinated friezes, with the central window featuring a segmental pediment and the others having flat moulded cornices. The ground floor windows also have architrave surrounds and keystones. There is a square-headed central doorway with an architrave surround and a flat moulded cornice on stone brackets, above which is a wrought-iron lamp bracket. The entrance features an eight-panelled door with a shallow oblong fanlight.
A wall extends from the right side of No 5, running north to join the left side of No 6. This wall is made of rubble with stone coping and includes a six-panel door set into it, which has a small hood supported by foliated metal brackets. The wall is part of a group with Nos 34 St Margaret's Hill and all the listed buildings in St Margaret's Place.
