CASTLE COMBE MANOR HOUSE ST 8477 6/109 Garden seat to north side of Italian Garden north east of Manor House Hotel

GV II

Garden seat, mid C19, stone replica of C15 bellcote to east side of Italian Garden (q.v.). Octagonal with 4 plain piers shouldered to carry octagonal spire with finial. 2 openings to rear part blocked for stone seat. A garden ornament introduced by G.P. Scrope to balance the bellcote from St. Peter's Church, Biddestone (q.v.) in formal garden composition.
