Description
No. 9 Cuttle Lane is a cottage dated 1799, although it may date back to 1762. It is constructed of rubble stone with a stone-tiled roof and features a north end wall stack, built on a brick base. The cottage has a coped gable and is two storeys high. The upper floor has two windows, which are cyma-moulded 2-light mullion windows, with a datestone reading "T. S. 1799" for T. Sumsion located between them. There are similar windows on the ground floor to the centre and right, with a door to the left set within a modern porch. Nos. 7-9 Cuttle Lane are recognized for their group value as a range of 18th-century cottages under a single roof, with No. 9 appearing to be built as part of this range, while No. 8 is dated 1762.
