Description
The Well House is a house dating from the 15th or 16th century, constructed with a timber frame and a hipped thatched roof, featuring two ridge stacks. It has one-and-a-half storeys. The timber framing is particularly heavy, incorporating curved tension braces. On the left side, the ground floor features a door, a triple casement window, and a door with splayed jettying under the eaves. Above the window is a timber-framed gable with a triple casement. To the right, there is a triple casement window with a pair of casement windows in a dormer. A section beyond this displays casement windows and thinner framing, likely added later. Exposed timber framing includes curved angle braces on the north end wall. The group value stems from the building’s exceptional architectural and historic significance within the Marston area.
