Description
Leaside Cottage and The Forge is a house, now divided into two dwellings, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of rendered brick and has a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has four bays, with The Forge occupying three bays and Leaside Cottage located in the left end bay and two rear bays. The layout features a lobby entry plan with a central panelled door. There are paned windows, and a small 20th-century canted bay window on the left, which is now the living room. The fourth bay is made of whitewashed brick and includes an added porch and canted bay. There are tall brick stacks at the centre and left gable. Inside, there is a light timber-framed partition between the living room and the inner room, now the fourth bay, as well as a simple chamfered fire beam and stop-chamfered spine beams without stops.
