Description
Red House Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse located on the west side of Shaftesbury Road in East Knoyle. The building is constructed of dressed limestone and features a beaver-tiled roof with ceramic ridge cresting, coped verges, and stone slate eaves, along with an axial brick stack. It has a baffle-entry and an L-plan layout. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has two windows on the front. The central entrance is a 20th-century door set in a chamfered stone case, which is covered by a 19th-century tent canopy. On either side of the door are two-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements. The first floor also has two 2-light mullioned casements. The right side of the building features a 20th-century casement on the ground floor and a 2-light mullioned casement on the first floor. The rear wing contains 2-light mullioned casements and other casements, some of which are leaded. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in August 1986.
