Description

Higher Sweetwell House is a farmhouse, now a detached house, dating to circa 1700. The building is constructed of dressed limestone with a fishscale tiled roof, coped verges, and brick stacks. It is two storeys high and has a four-window front. A half-glazed door is located to the right of the centre, with a recessed chamfered mullioned casement window to its right. To the left are three 3-light mullioned casements, a bull’s eye window, and a 3-light leaded casement. The first floor has three 3-light leaded casements and one 2-light leaded casement. The left return features a 2-light casement on the ground floor and a 3-light latticed leaded casement on the first floor. The rear of the house includes mullioned casements and a two-storey addition built in the 1970s. The interior is said to contain chamfered beams and open fireplaces.
