Description

The Seymour Arms is an inn that dates from the mid-17th century and has a late 19th-century addition. The original 17th-century section is constructed from dressed limestone, while the later addition is built in English bond brick. The roof features a combination of plain and fishscale tiles and has pairs of diagonally-set brick stacks. The building is arranged in an L-plan, with the 17th-century range positioned at right angles to the road.

It is two stories high and has four windows across the front. The entrance features a door with four fielded panels and a fanlight, accompanied by a canted bay with casements to the right. To the left, there is a 19th-century three-light mullioned casement, a canted bay with an inserted four-panelled door, and three two-light mullioned casements. On the first floor, there are two 19th-century two-light mullioned casements and two 17th-century mullioned casements, with a straight joint visible between the 17th and 19th-century sections to the right of the bay with the door.

The right side of the building has a two-story, three-window 17th-century front, featuring a central 20th-century door in a chamfered stone surround, with three-light casements on either side. The first floor includes two-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements on either side of a two-light mullioned casement, topped by a gabled dormer with a two-light casement. Attached to the right is a single-story brick former garage. The rear of the building has a flat-roofed single-story extension on the right and a 20th-century addition on the left, with two-light casements on the first floor.

Inside the 17th-century range, the building retains deep chamfered compartmental ceiling beams.
