Description
This cottage, built around 1800, is located approximately 173 yards north of the Old Laundry on Stratford Road. It is a two-storey structure made of red brick, which is partly colourwashed, and is positioned at right angles to the road. The cottage features a half hipped old tile roof with brick eaves. The front is symmetrical, with three windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor, all of which are recessed sashes with glazing bars and wood lintels. The central window on the first floor is a two-light casement, while the central door consists of six flush panels. A notable feature is the good wrought iron porch, which has a geometrical pattern on the supports and a diamond pattern on the frieze, although it has a corrugated iron roof. There is an external chimney at the west end of the cottage, and a later 19th-century wing has been added to the rear.
