Description
Nos 4 and 5 Church Street are a pair of houses dating from the late medieval period, which have been altered over time. They are constructed of rubble stone and plaster over a timber frame and stand two storeys high. The left side features a cross-wing with a west side-wall stack that is plastered, revealing an exposed ashlar pier on the left side. Above, there is a pair of casement windows over a 3-light cyma moulded flush mullion window with a dripstone. The main range has been refronted in squared rubble stone with white lime joints, likely in the early 19th century. It includes two pairs of casement windows above, two doors, and a triple casement window below. A large rear stack is present on the main range, while the long rear of the cross-wing has a north stack and a 3-light mullion-and-transom timber window at the north end.
