Description
Willowdene is a farmhouse, formerly known as Drax Farm, dating from the late 16th to 17th century. It features a timber frame with wattle and daub, much of which has been replaced with brick noggings. The original stone slate roof has been replaced with thatch. The building is two storeys high with attics and consists of three bays, along with a two-bay rear wing that was originally used as a kitchen and has been further extended by a one-bay dairy made of clunch with brick dressings. The western bay is faced in late 17th to early 18th century brick, while the other bays are faced in 19th century brick, and the east gable is from the 20th century. The entrance is now located in the rear wing, accessed through a thatched porch. The windows are timber casements, and the frame consists of two panels high on each floor. Inside, there are deep chamfered spine beams and a chamfered fire lintel in the rear wing's gable stack. The central bay features curved windbraces, and the cross passage within the central bay has stud and panel partitions.
