Description

The Railway Bridge, built around 1840 by Isambard Kingdom Brunel for the Great Western Railway, is a road bridge that spans a railway line. It features three arched openings, constructed from ashlar stone, with skew elliptical arches that are taller in the center. The arches are unmoulded and supported by a plain frieze and a moulded cornice, which sits beneath an ashlar parapet topped with ridged capping. The bridge has battered splayed abutments on either side and plain end piers. Additionally, the main arch is pierced with lateral arches on each side.
