Description
The Corner Store is a shop and house located at the end of a row, dating from the mid-19th century. It features a limestone ashlar front and a Welsh slate roof with coped verges and a brick stack on the rear pitch. The building has a polygonal front and is situated at the corner of Hill Street and Church Street. It is two stories tall with five windows. The entrance consists of a four-panelled door with a fanlight set in a semi-circular arched surround with a keystone. To the right of the door is a 12-pane sash window, and to the left is a half-glazed door flanked by two 6-paned 19th-century shop windows. A plat band runs along the first floor, which has five 12-pane sash windows. The eaves of the roof are supported by paired stone corbels. The right return is made of rubble stone and features sash windows on both the ground and first floors. There is also a rear rubble stone lean-to addition. This building is a good example of a corner shop that retains its original front.
