Description

The Old Rectory is an early 19th-century rectory, now a detached house. It's constructed from limestone ashlar with a hipped Welsh slate roof and ashlar stacks. The main facade is two storeys high with two window bays. A double-height, half-glazed door is on the left, and a blind window is to the right. The first floor has an 8-pane sash window on the left and a blind window on the right; the central two bays project slightly, with deep, boxed eaves to the roof. The right-hand return, which faces the garden, has two large, 16-pane ground-floor sashes set within segmental arches, and a plat band above the first floor, where two horizontal 8-pane sash windows are located. The rear elevation features two 16-pane ground-floor sashes, one 8-pane sash, and a blind window on the first floor. A two-storey service wing is attached to the rear right, with 16-pane sashes. The interior retains original joinery, including window shutters, 6-panelled doors in moulded architraves, and a staircase with stick balusters. The building ceased to be occupied as a rectory in 1980.
