Description
Whitcombe Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse, possibly built on an earlier core. It is constructed of red brick with stone slate roofs and brick stacks. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a T-plan layout, featuring a very long cross wing at the west end of the main range.
The main range includes an east stack, two hipped dormers, a first-floor window with a 9-pane sash, and a 16-pane sash. The ground floor has a half-glazed door set in an enclosed brick porch with a stone slate roof, positioned at the angle to the cross wing. The cross wing has a 16-pane sash on the east side for each floor, while the south end is rendered on a brick plinth and features a ground floor canted bay with three 12-pane sashes and a first-floor 4:12:4-pane tripartite sash. The cross wing also has a gable finial, a ridge stack, and a stack on the west side. The long west side of the building has three hipped dormers, six pairs of casement windows on the first floor, and pairs of ground floor casements, some of which have been altered. There is also a stack at the north end.
