Description
Newton Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 17th century, but was rebuilt in the late 18th century and refronted in the late 19th century. It is constructed of English bond brick and features a Welsh slate roof with brick stacks. The building is designed in an L-shape and is two stories tall with a four-window front. There is a 20th-century door to the left of center, flanked by two tall 2-light cast-iron casements on the right and one on the left. The first floor has three 2-light cast-iron casements and a blind window above the door, all of which are from the late 19th century.
On the left side, there is a small casement on both the ground and first floors, positioned to the right of a large external stack that has tumbling-in of offsets and lozenge diaper patterns, along with wavy bargeboards. The right side features 17th-century brickwork and a 4-pane sash window on the first floor, also with bargeboards. The rear has a late 18th-century wing that includes similar cast-iron casements on both the ground and first floors. Inside, there is a fireplace with a moulded cornice and ovolo-moulded jambs, stairs with stick balusters and a closed string, and a reset door with fielded panels.
