Description

There are two Penruddocke monuments located in the churchyard about 1.5 metres north of the chancel of the Church of St. Michael. These monuments date from the late 18th century and consist of two coffin lids set within a formerly railed enclosure. The coffin lids are made of chamfered limestone and are rectangular in shape, resting on low plinths within a kerb that features pitched coping. Both lids are adorned with heraldic arms carved in low relief. The southern lid has an inscription dedicated to Henrietta Penruddocke, who died in 1761, while the inscription on the northern lid is illegible.
