Description

This is a building of two houses, likely originating in the 17th century and with a front dating to the 18th century. It is two blocks combined, with the left-hand ground floor constructed of painted brick and the rest stuccoed. The roof is covered in slate and pantile. A moulded wood string course runs along the first floor, and Tuscan pilasters define the first floor. There are five windows on the second floor, with three large and two smaller windows, one of which is blind. The first-floor windows are sash windows with intact glazing bars, set in flush frames. Previously, the right-hand windows were ornamented with flower guards. The ground floor currently has three mid-19th century shop fronts. Number 21 features a five-light window with a flat arched head on thin colonettes, and a half-glazed door with two fielded panels. Number 22 has a more modern window. The shop fronts are framed by pilasters, a frieze, and a moulded capping. Numbers 16 to 22, and Number 24 form a group.
