Description

No. 6 St John's Alley is a notable building dating from the 16th century, featuring a long range of timber-framed structures with brick and plaster infilling. The central section has two storeys, while the end blocks rise to three storeys. The upper part of the building overhangs, supported by curved beam ends and additional curved brackets. The windows are irregular leaded iron frame casements, although the northern block includes later wooden frame casements. There are also various doors, including a wide ledged door set in a pointed arched opening with a rectangular frame and plain carved spandrels. Most of the building is currently used as offices.
