Description

15 St John's Street is a late 18th-century building of three storeys, constructed from ashlar stone with a projecting plinth. A string course runs along the first floor, and a moulded cornice and blocking course are topped by a raised centre block. The roof is hipped and covered in slate. The second floor features two two-light casement windows flanked by a false window. The first floor has three windows with architrave surrounds and cornices supported by flat scroll brackets. Originally, the ground floor had two windows similar to those on the higher floors, but these have been replaced by two early 19th-century shop windows. A central six-panel door is present on the ground floor. The facade facing Chequers Passage is pebble-dashed. The upper floors have coupled windows to the right and left, with a single central window. The ground floor features a similar early 19th-century shop front with a recessed central six-panel door and a rectangular fanlight with linked oval glazing. A canted bay originally existed on the right-hand side. The building forms a group with numbers 13 and 15 St John's Street.
