Description
Heywood Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1664, with extensions made in the late 18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and features roofs made of stone slate and concrete tiles. The west front has been remodeled in the late 18th century and is double-fronted, with paired windows on each side set in beaded surrounds. The central door has a moulded surround, a hood supported by brackets, and a raised plinth with angle strips. Originally, the front was roughcast. The building has a stack at the north end and a half-hipped gable at the south. There is a low addition from the 19th century at the north end. The northeast rear wing includes a datestone on the east gable and a low mansard-roofed addition on the north side. At the angle behind the front range, there is a late 18th-century mansard-roofed addition with a half-hipped gable to the south, which pairs with the south gable of the front range to create a nearly symmetrical two-window south front. This front features cyma-moulded flush mullion windows, with three lights on the main floors and two lights in the attics.
