Description
This is a row of four chest tombs belonging to the Lawrence family, located in the churchyard about 10 meters northeast of the chancel of the Church of St Laurence. The monuments date from the late 18th century to the early 19th century and are made of ashlar.
Starting from the north, the first monument is to William Lawrence, a low plain tomb with a slab top and an inscription noting his death in 178-. The second is the Richard Lawrence monument from the early 19th century, featuring baluster angles, slab sides, and a low relief oval plaque on the south side commemorating Richard Lawrence, who died in 1812. The third monument is for Mary Lawrence, also from the early 19th century, with similar baluster angles and slab sides, and an inscription on the south side noting her death in 1801, along with floral drops on each side. The fourth monument is another William Lawrence tomb from the early 19th century, which has baluster angles, slab sides, and two plain plaques on the south side, one of which is inscribed to William Lawrence, who died in 1834.
