Description
This building, known as the premises occupied by G.A. Edwards Far East Trading, is a shop and house dating from the mid to late 18th century. It features painted ashlar with rusticated quoins and a Welsh slate mansard roof, along with brick stacks. The structure consists of a central and left unit, with No. 11 being the right unit. It is two stories tall with an attic and has a total of eight windows arranged as 3-2-1-2. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front.
On the first floor, there are three windows to the left that have moulded architraves and 12-pane sash windows. The central block is slightly recessed and contains five 12-pane sashes set in bolection-moulded architraves, with the middle window flanked by rusticated pilasters. There is a moulded cornice and blocking course at the top. The left wing has two flat-roofed dormers, while the central block has four flat-roofed dormers.
At the rear, there is an early 18th-century rubblestone wing with a pantiled roof and one 2-light cyma moulded window on the first floor. This building is included in the listing despite the 20th-century shop front, as it contributes to a significant group of 18th-century architecture.
