Description
The Melksham Conservative Club, formerly known as the Constitutional Club, is a clubhouse built in the early 19th century. It features painted ashlar stonework and a pantiled roof, showcasing a Regency architectural style. The building is three stories high with a symmetrical front that has five windows. The entrance door, located in the third bay, has a round-arched opening with a six-panelled door and a fanlight above it. On either side of the door are segmental bows that extend through all floors, each topped with a cornice. To the left of the entrance is a square-headed entry. The first floor has a plat band and includes one 12-pane sash window to the left of each bow, with a blind window in the right bay. The second floor also features a plat band and the same window arrangement, but with smaller openings. The building is topped with a moulded cornice and a parapet that has a wrought iron balustrade. There is a flat-roofed 20th-century extension at the rear, which is not of interest.
