Description

Spinney Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and stuccoed brick, featuring a hipped roof of Welsh slate on the 19th-century addition and a pantiled roof on the earlier section, with brick stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window entrance front from the 19th century. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with a pointed fanlight and a square hoodmould, flanked by three-light casements with pointed lights and square hoodmoulds. Above the door, there is a two-light casement on the first floor and deep eaves.

The right side of the building has a two-light pointed casement with a square hoodmould to the left and a two-light casement on the first floor of the 19th-century range. The 18th-century range features two pairs of plate glass sashes on both the ground and first floors. The right return has French windows and a lunette window in a single-storey extension with an attic. The rear of the 18th-century range includes two two-light casements on both floors, raised brick eaves, and a 19th-century lean-to porch with a planked door and a two-light casement attached to the rear of the 19th-century range. The left return of the 19th-century range has two-light casements. The interior was not accessible during the survey in June 1986, but it is reported to contain six-panelled doors, window shutters, and marble fireplaces.
