Description
This is a semi-detached house dating from the mid-18th century. It is located on the south side of High Street, Chansplade. The front of the house is constructed of irregular bond brickwork on a rubble stone plinth, with a tiled roof and brick stacks. The east-facing front has two windows, and has a central 6-panelled door with a 16-pane sash window to the left, both with flat arches and keystones. The first floor has two 16-pane sash windows with flat arches. The right return side has a 12-pane flush sash window on the ground floor, with a flat arch and keystone, and a blocked loading bay with a bull's eye window in the attic above. The left return side has a lean-to addition with a half-glazed door and a 2-light casement window to the right, and an attic window. The rear of the house, which was formerly a shop, has a planked door and a 10-pane fixed window on the ground floor, a 15-pane fixed window on the first floor, and a casement window to the attic. Attached to the left return side is a former barn or weaving workshop, featuring 5-light fixed windows, French windows, and a 20th-century studio window to the south gable. The interior has largely been renewed, but original 4 and 6-panelled doors remain.
