Description

Attached to the south side of Nos 12 and 13 and slightly set back from the road, there is a large Gothic gateway dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. The gateway features a steep triangular gabled top with crenellations and a stringcourse. This gable is flanked by two diagonally-set pinnacles with finials and diagonal buttresses. The large 4-centred carriage entrance has plain chamfered arch mouldings, with spur stones on each side of the archway. Rubble walls extend forward on each side to connect with subsidiary pedestrian archways, which also have 4-centred arches and are flanked by clustered buttresses. The gateway, along with Woolley Green House, Woolley Green Lodge, and Nos 12 and 13 Woolley Green, forms a cohesive group.
