Description

The Cotes is an early 19th-century building, possibly a refronting of an earlier 18th-century house. It stands two storeys high and is constructed of local rubble stone, featuring rusticated quoins on the road-facing side. There is a moulded string course above the first-floor windows and a moulded cornice. The building has a rubble parapet with dressed coping supported by the gable ends and flanking brick chimneys. The roof is covered with old tiles. It has two ranges of glazing bar sash windows and a recently added fibreglass Georgian-style doorpiece with a pediment, located on the right side of the building. At the rear, there is a Victorian extension.

In front of the house, there is a dwarf wall with arrowhead rails and dograils, and a gate to the right. To the west, there is a long rubble wall approximately 8 feet high and about 60 yards long, which connects with No 195.
