Description

Cheviot House is an early 19th-century house with a refronting of an earlier building. It is constructed of ashlar with a concrete slate roof, a coped north gable, and end wall stacks. The two-storey front has a moulded plinth, string course, moulded cornice, and parapet. Raised angle strips, with mouldings stepping forward, and a raised strip to the left of centre are prominent features. The front has a three-window arrangement, with outer 4-12-4-pane tripartite sash windows, a first-floor centre 12-pane sash window, and a central four-panel door with an overlight. The door is set within a chamfered surround with thin panelled strips and brackets supporting a scrolled pediment. A rubble stone south end wall is also present.

The parallel rear range includes a section to the left with a three-light flush cyma-moulded window above a 20th-century canted bay. To the right of this section are two gables; the larger gable on the right has a prominent chimney and an ovolo-moulded upper single light. The smaller gable features a projecting ashlar gable with an upper 16-pane sash window above a 9-pane window.
