Description

This is a pedestal tomb dating from around 1840, located in the churchyard about 15 meters west of the west tower of the Church of the Holy Cross. It is made of ashlar stone and features plain sides, a moulded cornice, and a stepped top. The tomb bears an inscription dedicated to James Heritage, who was mortally wounded by a stab in the neck at Sandfield Gate in this parish on January 9, 1840.
