Description
The porch or pavilion located in the southeast corner of the grounds of the Council House is a re-erected 15th-century structure originally from the cathedral. It was removed from its original position outside the north transept by James Wyatt. This small but ornate stone structure features panelled buttresses with crenellated caps flanking two-centred arched openings on each face. The spandrels are adorned with leaf moulding, and the surrounds are decorated with fleurons. Inside, there is a shallow lierne-vault, and the inner sides of the arches are embellished with rosettes. A stone spirelet and pinnacles were added when the porch was re-erected at Wyndham House, contributing to its picturesque appearance.
