Description
The memorial urn located in the northwest corner of the grounds of the Council House (Wyndham Park) commemorates the discovery of Anglo-Saxon remains on this site in 1774. It features a stone plinth with a cornice capping, topped by a squat, unusually shaped stone urn that presents a "picturesque" interpretation of Saxon design, decorated with a guilloche band. The plinth is inscribed in Latin and includes a date, though it is very weathered.
