Description

Beechingstoke Manor is a house located on Woodborough Road, dating from the early 18th century with later additions from the 19th century. The original structure features diaper brick on stone footings, with ashlar limestone quoins and a thatched roof. The 19th-century additions are constructed in English and Flemish bond, incorporating both thatch and slate roofs. The first plan consists of three bays, likely with a central entrance and flanking reception rooms. Notable architectural details include a high chamfered plinth, a stone moulded string course at the first-floor level, coved timber eaves, and gable stacks. The windows are paired 12-paned sashes. The central bay has a two-storey 19th-century projection with an extended thatched roof that is hipped over. To the right, there is a two-storey extension from the 19th century, along with a single-storey outbuilding at the front, which has a pitched slate roof and a gable stack. The building also features two attic dormers. At the rear, there is a block parallel to the 18th-century front, dating from the early 19th century, with a symmetrical elevation that includes a central six-panelled door within a round-headed opening, a metal lattice porch, and flanking two-storey bow windows with triple 12-pane sashes. Inside, the manor contains early 19th-century fireplaces, including a library with a fluted chimneypiece.
