Description
Fifield Avon is a farmhouse, formerly known as Fifield Farm, dating from the 17th century, with alterations and extensions made around 1800. The building features a combination of timber framing and brick, with some areas of brick laced flint on the original gable. It has a thatched roof and is arranged in a long range that runs at right angles to the lane. The layout follows a lobby entry plan with a dairy located at the far end. The original timber framing is now fragmentary and consists of three panels high. Around 1800, two additional bays were added along the road, creating a facade of three bays with a central entrance, all constructed in brick with a thatched roof. The entrance features a half margin-glazed door set within a modest portico supported by reeded columns. The windows have been replaced with 20th-century casements.
