Description

Littleton Green Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century, with a south wing added in the 17th century. It is constructed of rendered rubble stone and features a timber-framed wing with brick nogging, topped with a stone slate roof and stone and brick stacks. The layout includes a through passage leading to the rear of the stack, with a parlour wing at the south end. The building is two stories high and has three windows on the front. There is a four-panelled door located in a gabled porch, with two 2-light casements to the left and a 3-light casement to the right. On the first floor, there are three 2-light casements. The timber-framed wing, which projects to the right on a rubble stone plinth, has 2-light casements, while the west gable end has been rebuilt in brick, featuring 20th-century casements on the south side. The left return of the farmhouse has a large external stone stack. A 20th-century kitchen extension is located at the rear to the right and is not of special interest. There is also a single-storey former dairy with a pantiled roof attached to the left. The ground floor of the main range has a mix of 3-light and single-light casements, with a small 12-pane sash window on the first floor. Inside, the farmhouse features chamfered beams and a notable Tudor-arched stone fireplace at the north end, complete with foliage carved consoles supporting a moulded cornice.
