Description

Three cottages stand in a row, dating to the late 17th century with a 19th-century addition. They are constructed of squared and coursed rubble, with dressed stone to the roadside front of number 8. Stone dressings and a stone slate roof are present on the road side, while the rear has a concrete tile roof. The roof is hipped at the west end of numbers 8 and 9, featuring two rebuilt ridge stacks and one brick stack at the east end. The cottages form an irregular L-shaped plan, with number 7 being a single-storey and attic structure, while numbers 8 and 9 are two storeys high.

Number 7, on the left-hand side, is the 19th-century addition, characterised by 2-light casement windows and gabled dormers in the eaves. A plank door is situated on the east end wall. Number 8 retains 17th-century openings with moulded architraves; the ground floor window to the right has a hood mould and a flush relieving arch above, alongside a 2-light 19th-century casement. The upper window is a 2-light chamfered mullion with casements. A blocked doorway, now a window, features rustic flower and leaf carving on the lintel, while another door has a moulded lintel and a fragment of carving. A plank door is also present. Number 9, positioned at the south-west corner and rear, has a gabled porch on the west end wall, a further plank door to the left, and a catslide roof to the road. The garden front of numbers 8 and 9 is distinguished by a continuous string course above the ground-floor windows.
