Description
Toghill House is a house from the mid-18th century, built of red brick with ashlar dressings and a stone slate roof. It features coped gables and a stack at the east end. The building is two stories tall with a three-window front, showcasing flush quoins and a string course. The windows are sixteen-pane cambered-head sashes set in raised moulded surrounds with keystones. The central door is also in a raised moulded surround with a keystone and is topped by a fine moulded pediment supported by brackets. There are dove openings in the west gable and 20th-century matching windows. The rear wall is made of rubble stone. A north-west rear wing is a later addition. The house is said to retain its original staircase, as noted in the 1960 listing.
