Description
Calstone Mill is a late 18th-century mill house constructed of painted brick, with an imitation slate roof and a stack at the south end. The building is three storeys high, with a three-window front. The first and second floors have 12-pane sash windows within stone surrounds. The ground floor has three casement pairs in stone surrounds, and a central door also within a stone surround. A wall-face stack, corbelled out above the ground floor, is positioned slightly left of centre. Flush quoins are present, stopped slightly short of the eaves. To the right is a two-storey section with a single window and a south stack. This section features a nine-pane sash window above a two-light mullion window, with a door to the left. A 20th-century wing extends to the right. Calstone Mill was recorded as a Lower Mill belonging to the Michell family from 1545 to 1720, and later to the Baily family in the late 18th century, and was used for corn and cloth production.
