Description

This is an 18th-century property situated on Long Street. It originally comprised a single house, but was later extended to the left to create numbers 35 and 35A, which incorporate a former stable entry at ground floor level. The main block is now divided, with the division marked by painted stone quoins to the left of the centre. The building is three storeys high, constructed of red brick on a projecting plinth with splayed stone capping. Stone quoins are present and a stone band runs along the first-floor level. A moulded stone cornice tops the facade, and the roof is covered in stone tiles with a hipped profile.

The main block has two coupled windows and a central single window on the second floor, all with stone architrave surrounds and sills. The first floor features two Palladian windows, alongside stone piers and an entablature, with an architrave and keystone to the head of the central window. The ground floor has two coupled windows and a six-panel central door, the top panels glazed, set within a stone architrave with a plain outer surround, cornice, and pediment supported by carved scroll brackets. The glazing has been altered.

Inside, a good contemporary staircase features turned balusters and a moulded handrail. The left-hand extension, formerly housing the stable entry, is also three storeys high and of similar design, with one coupled window on the upper levels. A former three-centred arched yard entry, originally with raised springers and a keystone, has been filled in with a pair of early 19th-century six-panel doors and arched radiating fanlights.

The property forms a group with numbers 31 to 42 on Long Street.
