Description

Eastcroft House, located at 38 Long Street, is a late 18th-century building that has been altered. It is two storeys high and features a cement-rendered stone plinth. The façade is enhanced by full-height angle Ionic pilasters, a moulded wood cornice, and a parapet with moulded coping. The roof is hipped and covered with slate.

On the first floor, there are four windows in moulded frames, along with a central panel. The ground floor has two similar windows on the left side and a modern rectangular bay on the right that detracts from the original design. All windows are two-light mullioned and transomed casements.

The entrance is set back on the left side and features a one-storey Ionic loggia supported by three columns and corner piers, complete with an entablature. This loggia is on a raised base, which is accessed by steps with plain rails, likely dating from the early 19th century. The house is set back from the road and is enclosed by a brick screen wall with stone coping, featuring central square stone gate piers with moulded coping. There is also a secondary door in the wall to the left with a stone surround. The design is interesting in its plain character, and the interior may also hold some interest.

Eastcroft House is part of a group with Nos 31 to 42 Long Street.
