Description

This is a barn located to the south-west of North End Farmhouse in Sopworth, dating from the early 19th century. The barn is constructed of coursed rubble with dressed stone used for the quoins and midstrey jambs, featuring wooden lintels and gabled stone slate roofs. It has a cruciform plan with hipped roofs over the east and west midstreys. On either side of the east midstrey, there are two lean-to sheds that, along with the main roof, create a large catslide roof. The sheds have two openings and two plank doors, while the midstreys have blank entrances. Inside, the barn has a through-purlin, tie-beam roof structure supported by king posts.
