Description
This is a terrace of four houses located on the High Street in Malmesbury, dating from the late 17th and early 18th centuries, with an extension from the early 19th century. The construction is limestone rubble, with brick ridge and gable stacks, and a stone slate roof. The houses are arranged on a double-depth plan, and are two storeys high, with a 1:2:1 window arrangement. The terrace slopes down a hill to the left, and number 89 is attached to the rear of number 87. Timber lintels span the ground-floor openings of numbers 89, 91, and 93. Number 93 has a former shop window with 8 panes; number 91 has a 20th-century half-glazed door in the centre, a 2/2-pane sash window to the left, and a boarded door leading to a through-passage on the right. Number 87 has an entrance within a square-framed side passage, and an early 19th-century canted bay window on the ground floor, featuring large panes. Original 3-light mullion windows are present, with number 91 retaining stays and fittings. Number 89 has a 2-window arrangement with 19th-century casement windows and timber lintels, as well as a plank door. The interior of the houses was not inspected.
