Description
19 South Street is a 16th-century, possibly older, small Wealden-type hall house and one of only two examples in Wilton. The building has two storeys with a jettied first floor. It features painted brickwork with two studs on the first floor, and the centre bay was once recessed, similar to No. 25 North Street. There are no beam ends projecting below the bressumer. The roof is tiled and has one brick ridge chimney. On the first floor, there are three two-light windows, while the ground floor has two 20th-century four-light glazing bar casement bays. A through passage is located to the left. The interior has been restored and includes an inglenook in the rear extension, windbraces to the purlins, and stout timber-framed party walls.
