Description

The Old Vicarage is a rectory that has been converted into a detached house, built around 1825 and restored in 1983. It features English bond brickwork and a hipped Welsh slate roof with brick stacks. The building is two stories high and has three windows across the front. A central half-glazed door with margin-panes is flanked by segmental-headed 12-pane sash windows, all set within a glazed verandah. There is a sill band beneath the three first-floor sashes, and a hipped attic dormer with a two-light casement window.

On the left side, there is a half-glazed door and a sash window, along with a 20th-century conservatory and two sashes on the first floor. A 20th-century garage is attached to the right side, which includes a sash window and a conservatory, with one sash window on the first floor. At the rear, there is a four-panelled door with a transom light and a 9-pane sash window on either side leading to a dressed limestone basement. The ground floor features a central blind window flanked by sashes, while the first floor has a central sash window flanked by blind windows and a hipped attic dormer.

Inside, the property retains original joinery, including window shutters, six-panelled doors on the ground floor, and four-panelled doors on the first floor. The open-well staircase has stick balusters and a cast-iron balustrade on the landing, with a moulded handrail. The first floor also features reeded fireplace surrounds with paterae. The building ceased to function as a rectory in 1982, and the 1983 restoration included the removal of a two-storey, one-bay early 20th-century extension on the left side of the front.
