Description

Edington Cottage is a detached cottage located in Edington, dating from the mid-17th century and altered in the 20th century. It features a square-panelled timber frame, with parts rebuilt in brick, and has a thatched roof with brick stacks. The cottage is two stories high and has a three-window west front. To the left of the center, there is a glazed 20th-century door, flanked by a two-light casement window on either side, and two additional two-light casements to the right. The first floor has two 20th-century casements and a three-light casement in the timber-framed gable to the right. There is a 20th-century two-storey extension to the left. At the rear, a 20th-century porch features a glazed door and a two-light casement to the left, while the first floor has four two-light casements, one of which has leaded lights. A lean-to extension is attached to the right return. The interior has been partly altered but retains an open fireplace with a cambered chamfered lintel on stone jambs, a deeply chamfered beam in the central former hall, and a former kitchen at the north end that includes an open fireplace with a flat lintel.
