Description
Sylvaine is a semi-detached cottage dating from the late 17th century, which was enlarged to the south in the late 18th and 19th centuries for service purposes. The building is constructed of Flemish bond brick and features a tiled roof with a brick gable end stack. It has an L-shaped plan and is two stories high with a two-window front. To the left of the center, there is a six-panelled door, and on either side, there is a 16-pane sash window with a segmental-arched head. A three-brick plat band at the first floor level has bullnose bricks in the lower course. The first floor includes two 2-light casements. The left side of the building has the same plat band and two blocked circular windows on the first floor. The rear wing is made of limestone and flint and features a door with a segmental-arched head and two casements on the first floor. Inside, the cottage has chamfered ceiling beams with ogee stops.
