Description

These estate cottages were built in 1843. They are constructed of buff brick in a header bond pattern, with raised red brick quoins marking the corners and window and door openings. The roofs are covered with fish-scale and triangular tiles. The cottages are two storeys high and arranged in a 'T' shape. The wing facing Stibb Green has a pair of gables, with two entrances set below wide, open timber gables featuring pierced barge boards. The entrances have boarded doors with cover mouldings. Windows have raised brick quoins, gauged lintels, and 2-light iron diamond lattice glazing. External brick stacks are located on either side of the forward wing, and there are three internal stacks, all with multiple red brick flues which are bonded together at the top. The design is striking and the cottages appear largely unaltered externally since their construction.
