Description
Unicorn Gallery is a house from the 16th century that was raised in the later 18th century. It is built of rubble stone and has a stone tiled roof, featuring a stack at the south end and another at the north-east corner. The building is two storeys and has an L-shaped plan. On the first floor, there are two 2-light unmoulded flush mullion windows with leaded lights. The ground floor includes a 3-light flush cyma-moulded mullion window with a hoodmould on the left and a 2-light flush cyma-moulded long mullion window with a hoodmould on the right. To the left side, there is a 16th-century through passage that is structurally part of Unicorn Cottage, featuring a heavy timber doorcase and a 9-panelled door at the front. The rear wing is one-and-a-half storeys tall and has a stack at the west end. Inside, the room on the south side has a large timber lintel double fireplace against the passage wall and heavy chamfered beams. There is also a stone winding staircase on the rear wall, and the rear wing has an encased collar truss.
